Of course they would recommend that - they are tightly connected.
ITWPA is another "membership" organization (one that you pay to belong to), of a great many you could join. I am not a member, so it's hard for me to assess if it is worth joining, but you could always try for a year (at $249) and then cancel if you don't feel that you're getting a good benefit from it. They will accept pretty much anyone, but ask that you publish two articles a year to maintain membership, which should not be hard to do.
In general my advice is to seek resources wherever you can find them, but be cautious of those that cost money, and try to use your best judgement (and budget) when deciding what to spend money on. Organizations, associations, and alliances that do offer concrete benefits (such as a publication into which they will accept and publish articles from you, and the ability to let your membership qualify you for press trips), are worth joining if you can afford to - but pay close attention to which ones are really working for you and which ones are not.
ALWAYS start with local organizations and go from there, because often you'll meet people who are also members of these national/international organizations, and they can give you their opinions of them.
