I love to write poetry about my travels but have read that publishers/agents don't consider this writing. Why? Do you have to be Emerson, Dante, or some other dead poet to be recognized? What are your thoughts? Share...
Why don't publishers consider "travel" poetry writing?

I just read an article on this. Some agents don't consider poetry writing. They'll tell writers not to bother submitting poetry. If you really want to writer poems based on your travels, go ahead and do it. You could easily self-publish them on your website, Amazon, or possibly your local bookstore. You never know unless you try.

Actually there are a few publications that do publish poetry (for example Writers Digest does), you just have to seek them out. Since I don't write poetry (in fact I suck at it) I don't have a handy list of those publications, but I'm sure in this case Google can help you out!
