I was surfing the internet and came across a posting about graphic novels and how travel writers are starting to write them? What is a graphic novel? What's the difference between a graphic novel and comic book? Wonder if it would sell.
What's the difference between a 'graphic novel' and a comic book?

From what I've been able to learn, there is not much difference, although some people prefer to use the term Graphic Novel when referring to illustrative books (more pictures than words) that are often longer and with a more complex plot than the typical comic book, whereas others believe the term is used only to make them sound more 'mature'. Here is Wikipedia's take on it:

I really think that, as with any book, if it's done well then it will sell. Whatever the product there is almost always a market.

Graphic novels are becoming more popular. As Trisha mentioned, graphic novels are more illustrative and have more complex plots. It would be really cool to have a 'Travel Graphic' Novel. It would definitely set you apart from the other travel writers that are on the market.
This is very intriguing. I know I could find an illustrator. The plot is another thing because they are so intricate...Hmmm....
