I've been reading about landing pages, and I'm confused. How does a landing page work for a blog? Do I need a landing page for my travel website? Is my blog considered my landing page? Help...I'd like to gain more traffic to my site. Thanks!
What's a landing page? How does it work for a blog?

All I know is that a landing page is the page that people "land" on when they come to your site
I think this is where you want them to do something like sign up for a newsletter, free promotion, and things like that. I'd be curious to know how they work for a blog as well.

Hi Duchess - sorry for the delay in responding - I've been on the road and returned home to find my internet down - just got back online!
BillieJean is mostly correct - a landing page is where people land on your site, but the term is primarily used as it relates to the page that you market - usually with PPC campaigns - it's where you WANT people to land and direct them to it via links (in a campaign). It is generally your "hard sell" page with a strong call to action when you want visitors to purchase something (or sign up for something).....so a landing page is a specific page you build, not just any page on your site.
There are two ways to get more traffic to your site - one is by writing great content and using social media to stimulate interest, the other is to pay for it with PPC advertising (like with Google). I only recommend paying for site traffic if you're earning a decent enough revenue (on average) per visitor that it makes sense to pay for visitors. If not, just keep writing and make sure you are focused on your keywords and stay on topic. Focusing on a niche and staying focused on it is the key to getting plenty of natural (unpaid-for) traffic.
Good luck!
