I noticed WordPress updated to 3.0. I'd like to change up my blog and would like to know more about child themes. Where do I find them? How do I change the theme? Where can I find a tutorial? Thanks a bunch.
What's a child theme and how do you use it?

Hmmmmmm I think this question would be better posed in the WordPress Support Forum
I know that child themes are a great idea for most people, because they separate the "functionality" of your theme from the design of it.....
What that means is that when WordPress is updated, some of the functions change - an out-of-date theme can possibly break (and likely will if it's way out of date)...so a good "Parent" theme is one where the developer is very active and will keep it up to date with function changes.....all you do is update the Parent Theme.
The "Child" theme is your design tweaks - which are not dependent on the functions - so updates won't effect how your blog looks.
But that's the extent of my knowledge, so if you want tutorials or where to find some good Parent/Child themes I would suggest starting at WordPress (click on "Extend" and then "Themes") as well as Google.
Good luck!

I've been wondering this myself. I found this article on http://thetravelersnotebook.com/blogging-tips/how-to-begin-customizing-your-wordpress-travel-blog-with-no-worries/ about child themes. Here's a link to a pictorial about child themes http://op111.net/53
I hope this helps.Posted 1 year ago #
