I'm curious to know what your first break was as a writer. I'm meeting more and more people who are writing and writing for a living. I'd be interested to know what you consider your first 'real' break was. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry for the delay, I moved from Arizona back to Ohio. It was one heck of a road trip; it took 39 hours to get back. I feel like I'm just visiting -- just like a travel writer!
Anyway, my break was writing for a website called Baja-Fun, and of course, TWE. I fell back into writing which isn't uncommon for people. Most people I meet used to write when they were in high school or college and gave it up for one reason or another. Some how, some way, they find their way back to writing.

Like Rebecca, I wrote a lot when I was younger, but stopped. I guess my 'first break' as a writer came when I move to York UK and discovered that a book about the history of the city I wanted to buy didn't exist. So I decided to write it myself. That's when I took up writing again and I haven't stopped since.
