I was reading something the other day on being a profitable writer and it mentioned the "inverted pyramid." What is the inverted pyramid? How is it used?

The inverted pyramid is, "...presenting the story in the order of importance." Turn a pyramid upside down and the broad base is at the top. This represents the most newsworthy information (lead...who, what, where, when, how, why). The tip represents the least newsworthy information.
