I've heard a lot about LinkedIn. What is the difference between LinkedIn and Facebook? How much difference is there between these two social media platforms?
What can you tell me about LinkedIn?

MteroCity1,
I think the best way to define LinkedIn is Facebook for professional networking, as opposed to social networking. It is really an online resume and networking website focussed on your career. I use both but have actually focussed more on LinkedIn. I am still learning how to promote my Facebook page.

Thanks for the information. I looked @ LinkedIn and it looks like it would be more professional versus creative like a MySpace, StumbleUpon, or even Facebook. I'll think about opening an account.

MetroCity1 - I'd argue that Facebook is probably a great fit as well (even though it might not appear so based on media stories and such) when compared to Linked-In. The best part of Facebook is the sheer number of users that are accessing the website on a daily basis.
Also, don't limit yourself to just one 'social media' venue. I'd take a look at other (if not all) all the big sites such as; Facebook, Twitter, Linked-In, YouTube (if you are producing videos), StumbleUpon, Digg and Technorati.
I'd keep MySpace off any listing of sites to join just because the user view count is dropping every month plus the terrible reputation it has garnered.
Just my thoughts.

I've been thinking about YouTube, I just want to choose a good handle because you can't change it. Not sure about StumbleUpon. They have some questionable websites on their and I don't want to give people the wrong impression about me.
