Hey Rebecca, you forgot to put in the link to the site.
http://everything-everywhere.com/
What works:
* Daily photo is cool. It attracts the eye and shows people it's a travel site.
* Easy to navigate and clear.
* Easy to find subscribe button.
* I thought it was clever to repeat the links to social networks etc. at the top of your About page.
* I like the 'Where is Gary' line in the header.
What could be better:
* I personally find it very difficult to read sites that have a dark background and light letters.
* As Rebecca said, some of the colours of the letters are hard to read. For me specially the words 'FREE ebook' on your subscribe button, but the red is also difficult.
Suggestions:
* Maybe place a box with recent posts in side bar for even better navigation.
* Would be handy to have an archive somewhere, so visitors can more easily find older posts.
* Maybe some more social network links, like facebook, under your subcribe button.
* Header could be a bit wider.
* I noticed that when clicking on an article, it opens in the same window, thus navigating away from you site. I personally would have that sort of links open in a new window.
* Consider changing the site to a light background with dark letter. (I do realise that this is rather a big change, but I personally hang around, and come back to, light sites with dark letters much longer than dark sites with light letters.)
