Good question and it's a question that many people are asking themselves. Some companies like Zappos use it to build their brand and customer loyalty. I cannot say if it does work or not. I'm still working on understanding driving traffic to websites and social media. I must admit that I'm becoming a "tad" bit cynical with all the talk about Twitter, Facebook, etc...I have not to increase "unique visitors" to my site. I have been getting more comments, but I don't know. Sometimes I think I put waaaay too much effort into my writing because I'm not seeing the return on my investment. Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting

Yeah, everyone is on the Twitter band wagon. Many people use it to stay in touch with friends and family. I did read an article about the CEO of Zappos and how he uses it to build the brand. I guess it's trial and error.

Doesn't Twitter just consist of people logging in and telling everyone what they're up to? Or am I just been naive and innocent?

Twitter is much more than people think it is. I've discovered that people use Twitter to sell their products and or services. It's not uncommon for someone to follow you on Twitter that is selling a product or service. I have some people following me that are selling website designs, affiliate marketing products, coaching, and much more.
Duchess is correct. I read the article about the CEO of Zappos using Twitter to build the "brand." I think a lot of people are confused about Twitter. It may have started out as another Facebook or MySpace to keep in touch with people, but companies and professionals use Twitter to promote themselves.
The jury's still out on how much your supposed to to "tweet." Some people believe you are not supposed to tweet a lot, others believe the more tweets the better. Who knows...

Thanks for the information on Twitter. I've heard a lot about it.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought Twitter would be so potentially useful, I'll have to take a look at it, thanks.

Yep! Twitter is used for advertising and marketing. I think what happens is that companies wait until people use social media outlets, and then jump on the band wagon after all of the kinks are worked out.

I just wanted to let you know that I had a response from someone that responded to something that I posted on my Twitter account. It had to do with telecommuting. I was kind of surprised because I often wonder if Twitter works. I guess it does...
