I was wondering what the top 5 or 10 blog posts are that draw readers to a website. Does the "How to" still work? Sometimes those posts can become boring because everyone's blogging about "How to" do something. Thanks!

Hi Sarah,
The good ol' "How to and List" posts still draw readers. People like to read reviews as well -- we are a consumer driven society. Interviews are a big draw. If you do a phone interview, you may want to have it transcribed. Controversy sells. Write a steamy post or political slanted travel post and watch the reaction you receive.
I hope this helps!

I agree with Rebecca - people do still search for "how to" posts, as well as tips/advice, "top 10" lists, and reviews - reviews are especially popular, particularly if it's a product that you're reviewing, as many people want to read actual user reviews before they spend their hard-earned money on something (I know I do).
Another type of post that is popular is the "comparative" one - for example product A versus product B, or cruises versus all-inclusive resorts, as long as you're comparing two (or more) items or destinations that can truly be compared in an "apples to apples" sense.
I do agree that controversy can also be a good draw, but unless it's what your site is known for, and you're consistently controversial, it's not a tactic that will make for long-term traffic growth or a high repeat visitor rate - one controversial post isn't "sticky" enough to keep people coming back to your site. And keep in mind that controversy draws negative attention as well as positive, so if you go that route be prepared!
