Any suggestions when you get tired of writing? I'm not motivated to write. What I'm writing is not stimulating; passion went on vacation and forgot to tell me.

Angela, start by examining why you're not motivated. It could be that your bored and need to get out! Go for a run, take the dog for a walk (if you have one), go for a drive, visit the park, go for a hike, see a movie, visit a museum, take up pottery, sign up for a writing course, read a book or two, etc...On the flip side, perhaps you need to redirect your writing. Travel writing is a broad topic. If you've been writing on backpack travel, perhaps it's time check out European travel, eco-tourism, adventure travel, or cruises. Make a list of all things travel and choose the topics that you would like to explore...perhaps a "mini vacation" would help. Also, many people like to journal. Maybe you need a day off from writing.
If you're not sure what to do, take a few moments to meditate about it. The answer may present itself when you become very quiet. If meditation is not your thing, how about a good work out? Perhaps yoga...I hope this helps...

Angela, maybe you need to do something else beside writing all together. Photography, web design, and graphic design complement writing. What about affiliate marketing? Make a list of your interests and see if anything "jumps out" at you...I myself am no stranger to career diversity; I'm not a one-trick pony! Marketable skills are very useful, especially today. The more knowledge you have the better, but you need to apply it.
Give yourself specific hours when you write, many authors do this. Barbara Park, who writes the "Junie B. Jones" book series for kids, writes from 8 am - 2 pm. True, she's not a travel writer, but she's still a writer/author. When the cut-off time arrives, shut down your computer or put the pen down! Give yourself a break. After all, if you deplete yourself, you'll have nothing left to give to others. Good luck, and I Hope this helps...

Richard here...I agree, with Martha. Give yourself a break! Plus, think about ways to complement your travel writing. Who does not want to earn extra income? Besides, most freelancers have a full-time or part-time job. I'm not sure where you're at in the world, but get outside. Sitting in nature may help you to figure things out. I enjoy going for hikes. There's something about sitting on the mountain that gives me clarity. Ok, that sounds kind of "woo-woo." Later..

It's the Duchess...Angela, it sounds like you're stuck in your head! Get out now! Creativity is the key. Take up a creative project like writing a novel/short story or volunteer. I like to volunteer because it's great to give back and helps to break up the routine of the day. Yes, even us writers can fall into a routine, yuck! I'm not one for routine...I like diversity which is why I do other things...However, there are times when routine cannot be avoided. Just roll with it...listen to music, hum to yourself (hopefully there's no one else around you), let imagination take over your brain, etc...Chin up!

Angela, sounds like you can use a break...Do you ski, snowboard, roller blade, or ice skate? Do something fun today -- your brain will thank you!

OMG! You guys ROCK! Lately, my feeling and outlook has been kind of blah. I know it's my own fault. I have a tendency to push myself too hard. No more...I'm going to be easier on myself. I also have a tendency to want to "control" how outcomes and how things are supposed to be in my life. That must go...Hey, Madonna's "Holiday" is playing on the radio. That's a great idea...Thanks for the great advice and support -- TTY

Glad I could help...give yourself a break. And remember, it's just life...Roll with it, but do not become complacent. You'll get to where you want to go...enjoy the ride, because you'll arrive @ your destination soon enough...Ok, that sounds kind of "new agey." L8R

I like to go through my travel books and art books. There's something about looking at the pictures that break my writer's block. I think it has to do with my "imagination" being triggered or something like that.
