I am interested in getting established as a writer. Can you please tell me how do i proceed. I am now at the start point, assume that i have no experience and at the end point i would like to see myself as a famous writer/blogger. Now what should be the sequence of events in the process. To be more clear the question is how do i proceed. It would be great if i could have a track designed and i could be certain about what i am doing and where i am.
thanks

Hello Jamil
I would first ask why you have decided to become a writer. Most people that pursue this as a occupation do it because they have a deep passion for writing, and it's a passion that's been with them most of their lives. They either begin the path of becoming a professional writer early in life, or they reach a point in their adult lives where they simply cannot continue in whatever life they've built, but must instead finally pursue their dream of becoming a writer.
Generally speaking, with both passion and talent, success is sure to happen. With passion but no talent, the best one can hope for is a meager living at best. With talent but no passion, one will never feel fulfilled and will likely only reach mediocrity, and with neither passion nor talent, one is better off pursuing some other career choice.
So if it's really and truly your dream to be a writer, then I suggest starting with a good writing course such as MatadorU. This will help you learn, but also to figure out if this is really the right path for you.
Once you've completed a good quality writing course, then you'll be better equipped to make decisions about your next steps, such as what type of writing do you want to pursue? What genre appeals to you most? What do you want to get published and where?
If your goal is to become famous, it will take hard work, perseverance, and a thick skin.

All writers will tell you to write every day. This is a good way for you to hone your writing skills. If you're unsure of your writing skills then take a couple writing classes and workshops. Remember, articles are written in third person speech and blogs are written in first or second person speech.
You mentioned being a famous writer/blogger. What is your niche? Do you have a website? If not, sign up with WordPress.com or WordPress.org and start writing/blogging today. Read other writers within in your niche market.
What do you like to write? Blogs? Articles? Guidebooks? Novels? Press releases? Web content? Start writing, even if it's for free at first. However, don't make a habit of this. Most writers will tell you to limit the amount of writing you do for free. Unless, of course, you're writing for your favorite charity or websites you visit.
FYI: Being a guest blogger gives you and your writing exposure.
Build an online (website) and offline portfolio. You will be asked to provide links or samples of your writing.
Pay attention to grammar and punctuation. There are many resources on the internet for grammar and punctuation. One of my favorites is http://grammar.quickanddirtytips.com/default.aspx.
As far as being a famous writer/blogger, you have many options. First, you can pitch and query the editors of your favorite magazines and newspapers to see if they're interested in your articles. Second, you can either self-publish or get your books published with a publishing house. Some writers recommend that you have an agent before you send out query letters. It's recommended that you send out 10 queries per month. It could take you 100 query letters before you hear anything from a publishing house. Finally, to gain exposure, you could write an eBook and give it away free on your website. I recommend keeping the eBook under 100 pages.
Good luck!

I forgot to mention that most writers join writing groups (I'm apart of two groups). You can have your writing critiqued and build on your strengths and improve your weaknesses.

Hi, Trisha and Rebecca Thank you so much. Many many thanks to both of you. The effort you took is more than my expectations. In fact on my part it was ineffective communication. Instead of saying a famous writer i should have said a would be blogger or a site owner. By the way i just submitted my first article in Ezine.com yesterday and it is in the queue for approval. I thank you again for paying attention to my post so sincerely. I will always feel like coming back to this site. thanks.
