I always had a fascination with storms. I love nature and am in awe of Mother Nature and her power. I've been thinking about a new travel writing niche -- storm chasing! It could be precarious at times, but it would be an adventure. What do you think?

Hi OTRA
I love the idea! I'm not sure how it would play out as a "travel" niche, because I'm guessing you'd be writing more about the storms than the places they're in... ? Or would you write things like "we went to Oklahoma chasing a Cat 3 twister and while there we visited the museum of...."
I would think that people who are really interested in storms (and there are a LOT of them) would really love a storm-chaser blog, but folks who are looking for travel information (things to see and do) might not want to know about the bad storms they might encounter.....
But hey, that's just my opinion! If it's something you love, go for it!

I'd like to focus on storms because I've always been fascinated at the power of Mother Nature. A lot has happened this year in a short amount of time. I could write about the devastation of a storm in addition to actually chasing one. Another angle could be from a volunteer effort. I could write about the time and effort it takes to rebuild. These are just some thoughts.

I think it's a wonderful idea for a blog, and I love all the different story angles you could come up with to write about. And I don't think you'd have too much trouble attracting guest bloggers either, because there is definitely a good-sized segment of the population that is very interested in storms and weather in general.
I just wouldn't consider it a "travel" blog. But if it's something you can be enthusiastic about, I definitely think you should pursue it. At the end of the day, it's not what you write about that's important, it's whether or not you really love writing about it.
