How do you stay motivated and write during the holiday season? If you're traveling, you'll have great material to write about when you get back. But, with so much going on during the holiday season, it can be easy to lose focus.

Good question...I myself can lose focus, especially if I'm doing five things at one time! The key is to take it one step at a time. The holidays can be overwhelming, especially if you're traveling. Add to that baking cookies, shopping, parties, wrapping gifts, and all of the "hoopla" that goes with the holiday season.
Personally, I do not let the "holiday season" get to me...whatever! I've been there and done that. I look forward to spending time with my family (I know) and visiting friends that I have not seen in a long time. If I want something, I'll go out and buy it -- I do not get stressed out. I would prefer someone make a donation in my name, purchase items for our troops (they need socks), plant a tree, or buy a toy for a child. Plus, my favorite holiday is Halloween!
Anyway...you may consider setting a timer for one hour and write without interruption. When the timer goes off, take a break, and reset the timer for another hour. When it goes off, you're done writing for the day. You can then "dash-off" to the stores and shop until you drop! Watch out for the crowds.

OMG! It can be difficult to stay focused on writing. Just take a deep breathe and keep the "bigger picture" in focus. The holidays will pass by in a "flash." It makes more sense to enjoy them instead of worrying how you'll accomplish everything on your list. This is where prioritizing comes in handy.
I like the idea of setting a timer. And -- I'll just buy a cookie tray if I do not have time to bake!

Why do people stress out over the holidays? I'd rather write travel articles then shop. Yep, I am a guy...Later...

Good call Carter...By the way, what kind of cookies are we talking about here? Just kidding...try to write something each day...you'll feel better about it and will not be "ticked off" at yourself for not writing anything at all...

Earning extra cash for the holiday season is a great motivator! Just think of the gifts you can buy for family and friends or you can donate to an organization. Don't sweat the holidays. Whether you fly or drive home, it will make a great travel article or a couple of articles.

Just write as much as you can and do not stress out about it. Stuff happens, you get busy, and sometimes things take a back seat. Don't make a habit of it, and you'll be fine!
