I saw that WordPress 2.8 is out. Is it a good idea to upgrade now or wait? Sometimes I like to wait because the programmers don't have all of the bugs worked out. Thanks!
Is it a good idea to upgrade to WordPress 2.8?

I would wait awhile before upgrading, but that's just me. I've noticed that WordPress produces a new version and before you know it they have have 3 other versions to fix the original program. I'd wait to see if 2.8 has any bugs before upgrading...Good luck!

Another good reason to be cautious is that often when a new version of WP comes out, some Theme authors and Plugin authors need to update their Themes and Plugins to be compatible with any core code changes. I strongly encourage everyone to check first with the Theme author and the developers of any plugins to be sure they will work with the new version BEFORE upgrading.
Also WordPress does it's best to maintain a page that lists compatible Themes and Plugins here:
Themes compatible with WP 2.8
Plugins compatible with WP 2.8Check these lists first and if you don't see the Theme you use, or the Plugins you use on the lists, contact the developer to ask about compatibility.

I plan on waiting. I've noticed how some of the plugins are not compatible with the new version. I learned my lesson the last time I upgraded

I just read an article yesterday on a few issues that SOME users are having with 2.8 (remember, your mileage may vary).....I'm planning to wait until 2.8.1 which should take care of those bugs -- generally speaking the first update after a major revision (e.g. 2.6.1, 2.7.1, 2.8.1, etc) is the one that will be stable and most bug-free.

Thanks for the update on WordPress 2.8. I know a couple of people that were going to upgrade, but I advised them to hold off. Glad I did. WordPress is no different than any other technology out there. It's best to wait.
