I've been thinking about starting a travel writing group in my area. I like the idea of putting names with faces. I could start one online, but I prefer to meet people in person. Is this feasible? Has anyone else started a group in their city...Please share...Thanks!
How easy is it to create a travel writing group? Meet face-to-face.

You could start by approaching your local bookstores and cafes and asking if you can use their space. Most cafes and restaurants will allow you to use their space as long the people buy something. Another alternative is to "barter" your writing services for the space. Hope this helps.

It's definitely feasible! Many travel writers like to join writer's groups and would love an opportunity to join a local group.
Additional resources to promote your group and seek out new members (in addition to the two Rebecca mentioned, bookstores and cafes) is through community colleges, local chapters of writers organizations/associations (such as the International Food Wine and Travel Writers Association, which has chapters all over the world), local writer's conferences, and Meetup.com. And don't forget to check with your local department of tourism, who may know a number of travel writers in your area.
Good luck!
