I'd like to try out PPC (pay per click) marketing to drive people to my site. Any thoughts on how to write a great ad? I'm not spending a ton of money, maybe $5 per day.
How do you write an ad for Google?

Good question and good luck! Many of the gurus out there find a campaign that is doing very well and copy it. If you purchase Google Cash Detective by Chris Carpenter, he walks you through how to find a successful campaign and clone it. His system is about $997 but if you're lucky enough to watch his free videos, you'll get the gist of it.
Create a witty and informative ad that will draw visitors to click on your ad which means they'll be taken to your website. You may want to create 2 different ads and have them run against each other for about 2 weeks. See which one does best and run with it. It takes a lot of understanding of SEM, SEO, and PPC marketing. Good luck!

Good points. I never thought about "copying" another ad. Makes sense I guess because the work is already done. I guess it's more of "moral" implication at best. As writers I think we'd be able to create eye-catching, copy that would "hook" visitors and compel them to click on an ad. Just my opinion.

I know what you mean about "moral" implications. I'll use ads as "inspiration" so I can create my own ads -- not thrilled about copying another person's work.

Interesting. I often wonder about all of those ads that I see. I guess if you're stuck there's no reason that you couldn't borrow a few lines here and there. But, it's probably best to create your own copy. Remember advertising is about "hooking" the customers.
