Does anyone have an agent? Is it necessary to have an agent first and then approach publishing houses? Please share your experiences. I'd like to have my book published with a publishing house.

You can find an agent by:
1. Word of mouth.
2. AgentQuery.com is a good resource to finding an agent.
3. Writers groupsThere's one more website but I can't think of it right now. I'll post it later!

I tried to find an agent and discovered that it is almost as hard as finding a publisher.
I did however learn that many publishers accept unsollicited manuscripts as long as they are non-fiction. Even so, I never managed to find either a publisher or agent, so I will just keep self-publishing my books.Keep in mind that it might take years before you are accepted by an agent or publisher. It's a very frustrating and disheartening process.
