Google will list your site. To get on the first page or two of results it's important to focus on specific keywords for your article's topic. However, this is being challenged by a few "online marketing gurus" out there. One of which is Andy Jenkins of StomperNet. He says "it's a mistake to OBSESS over keyword density."
Here's an excerpt Andy's StomperNet training course, "...Back in "the old days" of AltaVista and Inktomi, top search engine ranking could be commanded almost entirely by using on-page factors like how often your keywords are used.
The idea of stuffing your page with keywords was so easy to figure out and so easy to "game" that everybody did it! It was this mess of really bad search results that created the opening for Google to come out of nowhere and rapidly dominate search. But how did they do that? Google doesn't use keyword density. Rather than depend on really simple on-page text analysis that never worked well in the first place, Google uses primarily off-page factors."

This contradicts everything that I've read or been told about page ranking. Give readers great content and they'll keep coming back for more. Yes, use keywords but don't STUFF your articles with them. Just sprinkle them throughout your articles. Hope this helped...There's always something new in the realm of the ever changing SEO world...

Oh Dear! This stuff seems so complicated. I thought a blog was supposed to be easy. This just sounds like a lot of work. I'm looking for something where I can earn extra cash without all of the fuss. Maybe I'm just too old to learn all of this.

I hear ya Martha! I didn't realize all of the nuances of online marketing and driving traffic to your site. Think of it as a challenge and "food" for your brain. It's a great way to stat sharp!

I know it seems overwhelming but once you understand it, you'll be a pro in no time. I haven't heard of StomperNet. I think there are so many opinions and ideas on SEO that you must be discerning when you "sift" through the information.
I use keywords and research them. I don't stuff my articles with keywords. I will not force a keyword into my article if it sounds awful. I prefer my writing to flow, nice N' smooth. I also look at other websites to see how I can improve my site. Jack, this may help you with your site. Also, don't be afraid of PPC. You can spend as little as $5 per day or $25 per day -- if you know what you're doing. The alternative is to hire an SEO expert or take a few classes.
