Free blogs are fantastic! WordPress.com and Blogger.Com are popular. You could join MySpace and set-up a blog on your MySpace page. Many people do this. Other free blogs are LiveJournal.com and Thoughts.com. I'm not too familiar with these, but you may want to check them out. I hope this helped...

Thanks for the tips...does Facebook have a blog area?

I don't think Facebook has blog capabilities like MySpace. Facebook has an application called Blog Networks where you can add a new blog to your Facebook.

Hi BillieJean .... although there are plenty of places on the web that will host your blog, like those mentioned (Wordpress.com, Blogger.com, MySpace.com, etc)., it's important to think about your intention and your strategy.
For example, if you're just setting up a personal blog to communicate with family and friends, where you host it really doesn't matter. But if you're planning to set up a blog to promote yourself as a travel writer, or for other business purposes, then it's important to think about issues such as your "brand", your domain name, whether or not you'll accept advertising on your site (WordPress.com does not allow commercial blogs nor advertising), and what level of professional service you get (such as newsletter tools).
If you're serious about having a professional blog/website, you may want to spend a small amount to acquire your own domain name and get a hosting account with a reputable company such as 1&1, then use WordPress (the standalone software downloadable from WordPress.org).
This is important not only for presenting a more professional image, but also for making sure that you maintain the website traffic (visitors) that you'll work so hard to obtain, which you would risk losing if you start on MySpace and then "move" to a new domain later down the road.
