There's some debate going on with my friends about visas. I believe you do need a visa in addition to your passport. Some of friends disagree. Help! I want to travel to Australia but would be heartbroken if I arrived in the country only to find out I needed a traveler's visa. Please advise. Thanks!
Do you need a visa in addition to your passport?

Yes, you will need a Visa for some countries. I know you need for Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and other countries. It sounds like you won the debate!

I think it depends on the country, whether you need a visa or not. It also depends which passport you hold yourself.
I have a Dutch passport and I often don't need a visa, but get a sort of visitors permit on arrival in a country, like Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada. But also Singapore, Japan, South Korea etc.I know your question is probably a rhetorical one, but if you're unsure of needing a visa just visit the country's website or phone their embassy.

If you are going to a country that requires a visa and doesn't issue them at the border or point of entry, be sure to get one before you go. If you don't have one, the airline will probably deny you boarding.

You definitely need to have a passport (or international traveler ID card if you're going to select countries like Mexico or Canada and don't have a passport) but only for some countries will you need a visa.
In short:
Passport ~ yes
Visa ~ only for some countriesPosted 1 year ago #
