Hi Angela

Wow Rebecca sure has a great list of suggestions! I actually do quite a few of those - I have a set of stretch bands that I take with me on trips and use them for mini-workouts. I do like to use a hotel gym when one is available (and it's usually included in the cost of the room) because I like using a treadmill when walking outdoors isn't a good option (because of traffic, weather, or other factors). I will almost always take the stairs instead of an elevator unless my room is on a very high floor, and I do work very hard to watch what I eat, which is always challenging when you're eating out.

And while I don't advocate running all over in a city that you're not familiar with, many cities do have a park with paths you can jog or run on, or sometimes a nearby running track (like at a school).

I think the important thing is to make staying in good health a priority, and try to do most of the same things you'd do at home......eat healthy, stay hydrated, and keep active.

There are many ways to stay fit while you travel.

1. You could pack cords with you and use them to stretch.
2. You could workout in a hotel's gym if you stay in a hotel.
3. Run around the city.
4. Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
5. Watch what you eat.
6. Remember to breath.
7. You could do crunches on the floor.
8. You could do squats and jumping jacks in your room.
9. You could lift your backpack for three sets of 30 reps.

I hope this helps...

Has anyone traveled for a year or more? How did you keep yourself in shape? What and where did you eat? I'd like to travel for six months to one year but want to keep in good health. Thanks...
