This came across my email - if you're interested there is contact info at the end.

REMEMBER - they are looking for polished, experienced lecturers and there IS a vetting process - please only apply if you believe you qualify, and GOOD LUCK!

~Trisha

Bramson Entertainment Bureau, Inc. coordinates the Guest Lecture program for Seabourn Cruise Lines. As an integral part of the on-board programming, the Guest Lecture program is considered an important aspect of the Seabourn experience. We are constantly looking for highly qualified individuals who wish to participate in the program. Our mission is to ensure the quality and success of this program for Seabourn.

Seabourn puts at least one lecturer on most sailings of 10 days or longer. If there is only one lecturer slot on a sailing then a Destination Lecturer is placed. This is someone with knowledge of the history, culture, music, art, or architecture who can offer interesting insight into each of the ports being visited. For longer cruises with a number of sea days, a second lecturer is added. This is usually an enrichment lecturer, which tends to be those with expertise in areas such as World Affairs, Maritime History, Astrology, to name a few. For each type of lecturer, Seabourn requests a minimum of four (4) different lectures and up to a maximum of nine (9) lectures, depending on the length of the cruise and how the Cruise Director needs to schedule the lectures. In addition to lecturing on the days at sea, there are also times when lectures are scheduled as cocktail hour lectures. Each lecture must be accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation as a visual component. The speaker needs to bring their own notebook/laptop computer plus a VGA cable. On board, the A/V manager will help to set up projection as needed.

All lectures should be entertaining, enlightening and enriching to offer the passengers an opportunity to learn in a vacation setting. The lecture period should no longer than a total of 50 minutes in length and should include time for a question and answer period. In order to be considered for a return assignment, all lecturers must receive good ratings and reports from the on-board management team as well as the passengers. With so many repeat passengers sailing, it’s also important for lecturers who do this on a continuing basis to think about adding, revising and updating their presentations.

There is no financial remuneration for sailing as a Guest Lecturer. In exchange for providing lectures, Seabourn provides an Ocean View Suite, which does not have a balcony. On the Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest, there are specific lecturer cabins, which only have a port-hole. Please note that lecturers are not able to upgrade. In addition, the line will provide one (1) economy air for any lecture assignment under 3 weeks (21 days) and two-economy air for assignments over 3 weeks. Seabourn’s Air/Sea Department will arrange the air tickets in accordance with their contract fares and policies. Once air is requested we cannot make any changes. These air tickets are also not upgradeable nor will the line do any air equivalency. Seabourn will fly you in a day early if the flight is over 5 hours and arrange one night hotel prior to embarking. I am happy to put in any requests you may have for a particular airline or routing or hotel, but cannot guarantee that it will be possible to arrange as such. If you want to arrive at a port earlier or stay beyond your disembark date this is possible but I must know when putting in for the air request. Seabourn will arrange transfers from the airport to the ship to embark and from the ship to the airport when disembarking unless you deviate and then you are on your own.

Traveling as a guest lecturer does have good points and some restrictions. You do have guest status but with the understanding that full paying passengers are given priority. In addition to the lectures, you are asked to host a table in the dining room at least 3 nights in a week. You may use all the facilities on board and will be charged at the passenger rate for such things as any medical services required, shore excursions or the internet. Seabourn is an all-inclusive line so that certain wines and liquor are included. Premium and boutique wines and brands are extra and for your personal account. Gratuities are included.

If you are interested in being considered as a Guest Lecturer for Seabourn, we need to get from you a bio/resume which outlines your educational and work history as well as highlight any lecture activities. If you’ve sailed previously on another cruise line as a lecturer, please let us know. In addition, you need to submit at least four (4) lecture titles and a short blurb about each. Submitting a video of a recent lecture that you’ve given is also must helpful. Please send your materials ideally via email to: Linda_raff@bramson.com or if you prefer to send by mail our address is: 630 Ninth Avenue, Suite 203, New York, NY 10036.
