I forgot about Clickbank. There are many people that claim they make a good monthly income from Clickbank. It depends on what you're selling, how much you're promoting the products/services, and how you're promoting.

I'm curious to know what a good percentage is to earn from affiliate marketing. I'm exploring Clickbank, and they give you statistics for the products you can market. Obviously, I want to maximize my profits. Has anyone had great success with Clickbank? Please share.

If you the ads have been on your website for a year and you haven't made any money, I would change them. It's good to test ads to see which ones entice readers to click on them.

They could work, but I'd go with Trisha's advice. Analysis is key as is time and dedication. Choose your affiliates with care and make sure they're aligned with your niche market.

Many of the "gurus" that sell their product for $1197 or $997 tell you they've invested the time so you don't have to do so. They show you their ClickBank or PayPal account as proof. This is fine but what they don't show is what they did and how they did it.

If you know someone who's making a decent amount of money from affiliate marketing, ask them to educate you. You could even split your first month's profit as a payment to them.

I am a total skeptic when it comes to stuff like this - I know that there are some people who have legitimately made a lot of money marketing products online, any maybe they've made 'millions', maybe not.....but I sincerely believe that most of the people claiming that they can teach you some 'secret' to affiliate marketing are scammers - IF they've made millions (a HUGE "if" in my opinion), it's likely they made it just selling their so-called secrets, and nothing more than that, and for what it's worth, there aren't really any "secrets".......

Affiliate marketing boils down to a simple process of finding a product that a lot of people want, and doing a good job of convincing them to buy it through you, instead of from someone else. That product is shipped to the customer directly from the manufacturer or distributor, and most of the time they even handle the purchase transaction - all you do is convince people to buy it. And for that, you earn a good percentage of the purchase price, typically anywhere from 30% up to 60%.

And the way that you get people to your site so that you can close all those sales is to advertise, usually using a PPC campaign, with both search engine sites and related but non-competitive websites. You need to be able to discover, test, and focus on the best keywords to drive traffic, and you need to be really good at writing sales copy, both in your ads and on your landing page.

That's it. If you really want to, you can spend money to have someone tell you all of that using more words.

One caveat: Although there is nothing complicated about it, I'm not saying that it's easy. It takes work. It takes a great deal of research. It takes a great deal of analysis and testing and more analysis and testing. It takes dedication and perseverance. It takes an investment in your advertising dollars. And if you don't have a talent for writing compelling sales copy, then you may have to hire someone to do that for you.

Not everyone can do that, marketing is both a skill and a science. Some people are good at it and others aren't. I know that I'm not, and I'm not sure that any amount of money spent could make me good at it. So it really depends on whether or not you feel you have the right skills - if so, give it a shot on your own, and if you think you have a talent for it and want to take it further, then perhaps it would be worth signing up for a workshop or course that isn't real expensive and see what that does for you.

Good luck if you decide to try one. <img src="http://www.travel-writers-exchange.com/Forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

I'm wondering if affiliate marketing software or programs are worth it. I keep receiving emails (not sure how) from a guy who claims he's made millions with affiliate marketing and I to can do the same. Are these scams? Waste of money? Worth it? What do you think? Thanks for the input!

Ralph are you talking about 'affiliate programs' in the sense of aggregators like Commission Junction, or Linkshare, but just focused on travel products? I'm not aware of any, but all of the big programs like CJ, Linkshare, Google Affiliate Network, etc. have a number of travel suppliers in their programs.

Good question. I stick with the usual affiliates that are tailored towards writing or web hosting.
