<itunes:summary>Many of you will remember Lisa Lambden from my prior interview with her - she's the founder and director of the Travel Channel Academy.

Lisa has launched an exciting new project - one that every travel writer should pay close attention to - called the "New York Video School", and she graciously took time out of her busy day yesterday to let me get the scoop on what it is, and what it means to you.

Why do I think you should pay attention? Because video content is rapidly becoming a requirement for submission to many online travel publications, especially those that are larger media outlets. In short, if you're not producing your own quality travel video content, you're going to get left eating the dust of those travel writers that are.

In the interview, Lisa explains that the New York Video School was launched to take the successful Travel Channel Academy program (face-to-face video production instruction in a classroom setting), bring it to an online environment, and make it accessible to anyone who is looking for a start-to-finish video training course.

A great feature is that NYVS is community-based and highly interactive, offering groups you can join, forums to participate in, and blogs to follow, giving you the opportunity to get (and give) feedback and network with other students and instructors.

In addition to the community aspect, I love the fact that it's super-affordable, you can take only the courses you're interested in, and you can learn at your own pace, on your own time.

Lisa has a great way of explaining it all, so be sure to listen!

Enjoy!

~Trisha

<itunes:summary>Over the weekend I had the great pleasure of interviewing Anthony Bianco, also known as "The Travel Tart".

After a couple of technical glitches on my end and an error calculating the time difference between Arizona and Brisbane, Australia (which I finally worked out using an online time zone converter tool) , I finally got an opportunity to chat with this interesting Travel Blogger.

Anthony got started in travel writing by providing some travel articles for an online Australian Family Travel Agency. Having enjoyed the experience, he decided to parlay his writing talent into his own travel blog, which has -- in a short time -- garnered a respectable number of readers of his blog and a sizeable Twitter following, primarily due to his uniquely humorous take on the often funny side of travel and travel destinations.

Have a listen (and maybe a few laughs)!

Meet Anthony Bianco:

Anthony's Biography:

The Travel Tart (sometimes known as Anthony Bianco) is a self-proclaimednbsp;travel addict who will find any feeble excuse to go traveling.

Anthonynbsp;discovered he really enjoyed traveling the world when he was sent to anbsp;former war zone for work - Kosovo - as his first venture outside of
Australia and New Zealand. nbsp; This created a habit of visiting places thatnbsp;most package tourists avoid like the plague. nbsp;He has since travelled tonbsp;almost 40 countries over six continents - nowhere near enough!

While travelling, he likes risking his life by utilising barely road-worthynbsp;forms of transport such as African mini-buses, suicidal Cairo cabs, andnbsp;flatulent camels. nbsp;

His foray into the travel writing world happened by accident - his dodgynbsp;friends thought it was a good idea to convert hisnbsp;humorousnbsp;travel emailsnbsp;into something more substantial - like articles and books.

Anthony likes to write about the funny, offbeat, and downright strangenbsp;aspects of world travel today, which can be seen on his website atnbsp;http://www.thetraveltart.com. nbsp;He also guest blogs for other sites if people are silly enough to take up his offer. nbsp;</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Here's a fabulous opportunity for all of you aspiring travel writers out there - the International Food, Wine, and Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) has announced a Scholarship contest that will award a First Prize as well as two "runner up" prizes, all three of which include a 1 year paid membership to the IFWTWA along with other valuable prizes (including the opportunity to get an article published), and the First Place winner will also receive complimentary attendance for their 2010 "Conference At Sea" cruise (including taxes and port charges - airfare not included).

I've just interviewed Maralyn Hill - president of the IFWTWA about their Scholarship so be sure to listen to the podcast for full details, or read the transcript (links below).

But don't delay - the deadline for submitting your entry is August 15, 2009 (if submitting online) or if you're entering via snail mail, your entry must be postmarked no later than August 10, 2009.
