   Hi there,

   I'm planning to take a year off of work in 2012 and see the World. This decision was made only recently so I'm in the beginning stages of my adventure. I set up a blog on wordpress to document the journey as it occurs. http://www.worldtour2012.wordpress.com

   I write on two other popular blogs but for now will keep the ventures separate. Very different topics. Enough said about that. heh

   My hope is to work while I travel and am prepared to stay in one place for a period of time, any advice would be appreciated. I'm overwhelmed by the amount of information on the net and feel excited by the prospects of discovery.

   My plan is to travel alone but meet people along the way.

   Well enough said for now.

   Sounds like a plan! Look for places that are cheap, but clean. Scour the internet for travel resources on budget travel. You may want to visit http://www.vagabonding.net Rolf Potts is an expert in "vagabonding" and provides readers with great information. Good luck!

   It sounds like a very exciting plan. It's a good thing you have the next two years to research and save money for your trip.

   There are a couple of great travel bloggers who have done round-the-world trips, or are in the midst of one, or planning one for the near future.

   One thing you might consider is to get an ESL certification (which for anyone reading not familiar with the phrase ESL, it's for teaching English as a Second Language). That will help you to get work in many countries, and is a great way to meet people and learn their language as well.

   Hostels are an inexpensive place to crash until you find work and a place to live in a destination.
