I heard that Continental is merging with another airline (can't remember which one), and I was just wondering if anyone had information on it. It seems that all the "big" airlines are consolidating these days. I wonder what the means for travelers...

Good question. Who knows what will happen when they merger with United that's if it gets past the regulators. Apparently, it's not a done deal yet...stay tuned!

It's not good news for travelers, if it does happen. The fewer choices there are, the less competitive the airlines have to be. It may sound odd to say, but I miss the days when the industry was government regulated.....the "big" airlines really make it tough on smaller airlines, who are often the 'budget' choice as they try to compete for business, and wind up either running them out of business or swallowing them up in a merger. The entire state of air travel is horrendous these days, but without more free competition, we have little choice but to put up with it. If there were a vote tomorrow to re-regulate them, I'd vote YES!
