I would like to know what words you eliminate when you write. How do you "trim the fat" from your writing? What's the process? Thanks for sharing...

You could (or try to) eliminate the following words...it's up to you...
1. So
2. This
3. That
4. Really
5. Because
6. Also
7. Usually
8. SeriouslyYou may find it challenging to do at first, but it's a good way to hone your writing skills.

Yes, 'also' is a word I use way to much in my writing.

Good list Rebecca!
When I'm editing my own work, I read it over several times and look for ways to get a point across with fewer words. I have a hand-made sign over my desk that just has a single large word written on it.
Brevity.
I think about things like this:
1. What does a reader need to know? What do they NOT need to know?
2. Am I using any 2- or 3-word phrases where a single word means the same thing?
3. Am I using unnecessary descriptions or adjectives? There is a time and place for beautifully descriptive language - for example, when writing narrative travel essays - and there are times when it's not appropriate. Keeping in mind the context and intent of what you're writing - as well as the target audience - will help you trim the fat!
