I wasn't sure what "tag" to use so I just used "apps." I got the iPhone and am wondering if there are any travel related apps that people are using. I'd like one for photos, maps, and not sure what else. Thanks. I'm still getting acclimated to the iPhone
What travel apps are available for the iPhone?

Hey OnThaRoadAgin -
A few travel websites, including myself, have put some lists together of the top iPhone apps, see below;
Tourfolio.com - 5+ Helpful iPhone and iTouch Travel Applications (http://www.tourfolio.com/5-helpful-iphone-itouch-travel-applications/)
NomadicMatt.com - Good iPhone Travel Apps (http://www.nomadicmatt.com/travel-blogs/good-iphone-travel-apps/)
Overseas.com - 10 apps to download on your iPhone before you travel (http://overseas.com.au/blog/index.php/10-apps-on-your-ipod/)
Hope that helps!

Wow - great resources Bryan - I'll have fun going through those!
OTRA, I use some of those recommended at the pages Bryan linked to (the Kayak one, Skype, Tripit, a Currency Converter, a Language translator) but there are a few more that I love.
iGasUp - to find nearby gas stations when I'm in an unfamiliar city with a rental car
iCarPark - to find my car again after I've parked it somewhere
Yelp - to find a good local restaurant while on the road, or even when I'm at home
SitOrSquat - to find a public restroom
Free WiFi - to find local free hotspots
AroundMe - helps me locate whatever I need based on my location
FlighTrackPro - to keep track of the status on flightsHope this is a good start for you!

What is it you want to do with photos on your iPhone? I take a lot of photos with mine, but I generally download them to my computer for editing - not that you have to, there are a couple of very simple apps that do some rudimentary editing....I just don't use them since I don't really edit them while they're on my phone...

Here are some others that I use:
I love Pano; it lets you stitch together photos to create panoramas.
The WordPress, Flickr (Mobile Fotos), Facebook and Twitter Apps (Tweetie and TweetDeck) all help me keep up on blogging/social media.
Mobile Fotos and NearPics show GPS tagged photos near you that are on Flickr.
Kindle, Barnes & Noble and Stanza all let you read books on your phone.
Hotels.com (Expedia)... the app basically just pushes you to their mobile site, but it first pulls your GPS location (I've booked a lot of rooms from the road through this one).
Cheap Gas can let you know the price for gas, but some areas are better covered than others.
Wikipanion is good for quick Wikipedia reference.
Weather Channel shows a lot of weather info from 1-10 days, plus radar and weather warnings - you can enter a location or use GPS.
Check to see if your airline, car rental company, hotel or insurance company has an app, they can be very helpful.

@irishfireside - wow - great apps and good advice! I forgot that I do use the Wordpress app and I like echofon (used to be called Twitterfon) for Twitter. I'll have to check out a couple of those other ones!
I also use a lot of the features of Google Maps which is a "stock" iPhone app - I it to find places I need to be when I'm on the road and then use the street view to make sure I know what the building looks like so I don't miss it, and to check out what type of parking is available...
All in all I think the iPhone is a very necessary traveling companion!
