I'd like to purchase a netbook because I don't want to pack my laptop when I travel. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best netbook on the market? Please share. I'm looking to spend no more that $600 on a netbook. Thanks for your help

It matters exactly how much you really want to do on the netbook; however, if you are just using it to browse the internet and write (via MS Word, Notepad, etc...), then you should maybe go with either;
Toshiba Mini NB305-N410BN ($375-$410)
Sony Vaio Eco VPC-W212AX ($465-$480)If you are looking for something a bit more powerful (i.e., higher memory to help run bigger applications) then you might want to check out the following;
Asus K60I-RBBBR05 ($549)Just my two cents.

Both of those are excellent netbooks - my hubby is a "PC" guy and has been looking at them as well, since he's thinking of going that route also for short trips (instead of lugging his fairly heavy 17" laptop)...
BUT as Bryan points out, it really depends on *exactly* what you want it for - if it's just email, web surfing, and maybe blog updates, you MAY also want to look at the new Apple iPad (I'm a "Mac" person, so naturally I always go in that direction).....I don't have one myself (yet), but a good friend does and I got to play with it last weekend - it's very thin & light, so weight is NOT an issue, and it will do an amazing variety of tasks for something that many people are dismissing as "not a computer" - well, no it isn't like a full-fledged laptop, but it will do all of the things I'd need it to while on the road, and then some. It's worth looking into before you purchase anything.

Thanks for the information! Is Asus a good brand? Are they owned by a "bigger" computer company? I never heard of them. I thought about the iPad, but I'd like something I could type with which is why I'd like to get a netbook. Unless, of course, the iPad has typing capability. I basically would like a "mini laptop" to take with me when I travel.

YES the iPad has typing built in - just like the iPhone when you click on a field in an app where you'd type, an on-screen keyboard pops up making it very easy to type in either portrait or landscape orientation.
Another nifty feature is that you can also use a bluetooth keyboard with the iPad - my friend had one that is super-light and thin but a perfect size - very much like the size of a laptop keyboard, and it connects to the iPad so it's at the perfect viewing angle for typing. Overall I was extremely impressed with it. When they first announced them and I read extensively about them, I had decided that I'd probably not get one, but after playing around with it a bit, I've changed my mind and now will definitely be getting one soon.
