I was recently contacted by someone who'd like to guest blog for me. It took me by surprise. I guess my blog is finally taking off! What do you look for in a guest blogger? What questions do you ask them? Please share ... Many thanks!
What do you look for in a guest blogger?

Here's some criteria to look for:
1. Make sure they can write -- ask for samples of writing.
2. Ask if they have a website.
3. Make sure they write original material.
4. Make sure you like their style and tone.
5. Convey what you're looking for: 500 words, two postings a week, etc...
6. Make sure you can trust them.
7. If you want them to provide photos, make sure they have the right to use whatever photos they choose.
8. Make sure you specify if you want the posts written in Word (you post them) or you give them access to your WordPress account.Posted 1 year ago # -
Excellent advice from Rebecca!
It's also helpful, but not necessarily a requirement, to know if they have a good social media reach and can help promote their own guest post to bring new readers to your site. Remember that guest posting should be beneficial for both of you, so as the 'host' you want to be sure you're providing them with links and readers to their blog as well.
Ultimately the deciding factor for me though is the content - is it valuable and will it resonate with your audience?
And I do want to reiterate Rebecca's point #7 - it's critical that if they provide a photo, it's one they've taken themselves or purchased the right to use, and can provide a receipt or signed release.
