I'd like to really monetize my blog to the fullest. What can I do to make the most out of it? I've dabbled in affiliate and PPC marketing, but I'd like to do something else instead of affiliate/PPC marketing.
What can I do to monetize my writing besides affiliate marketing?

Hi Ralph - that's an interesting question, because most people DO want to do affiliate advertising, and outside of that your options are limited.
You can sell a product - whatever that product is, a book, ebook, or a better mousetrap - or sell someone else's product (which is the affiliate advertising part)......OR you can just sell advertising space on your site......but to do that, you need to have a really significant amount of targets (qualified) traffic that you can document, in order to entice someone to pay you to advertise on your site. So that's all that I'm aware of - sell your own stuff, sell someone else's stuff (as an affiliate), or sell ad space.
Maybe someone else is aware of other methods and will jump in, but I'm curious to know why you don't want to use affiliate advertising?

Affiliate/PPC marketing has become like a full-time job
I had no idea how much time you can spend on it. Haven't made too much cash from it, spent more on Google AdSense than I earned
I'd like to take advantage of any money making opportunities that I can. It helps to fund my travels. Maybe I'll write an eBook and sell it on my site. I read somewhere that you can sell products on ClickBank. Maybe I'll give that a try.

I agree with the idea of writing your own eBook ... the only way to make money is either own real estate (virtual or real) or to create something.
Other ideas I have seen people use to make money off their blog include:
1. Build a following and sell that to an advertiser to help facilitate reviews and building buzz etc. (this differs from traditional advertising in that it isn't just displaying an ad but actually generating buzz / content / links etc.)
2. Sell a service - Can you train people on something? Can you organize tours of your specialty area? Can you create itineraries?
3. Can you make something? Not just eBooks, but maybe videos, or can you make shirts, trinkets, etc.
4. Start a subscription newsletter about your niche (good if there is business value in your niche but not so much if it is just general travel or personal writing)
5. Consulting - are you an expert in the niche and can consult with businesses?
6. Directories - create a paid directory i.e. if you have a blog about Michigan then people who offer travel packages, equipment, rental properties etc. will want to be listed in your directory.
I don't know what your blog is so some of these may be better / more applicable than others.
All of these assume that you can or have a good following - I would not focus on anything but building your audience / following till you get your monthly traffic to about 3-4,000 unique. And even then don't expect to make much till you get MUCH higher numbers.
Hope this helps ...

I don't know if this helps or not....I was getting frustrated with Adsense and did a google search to see what else I could do. Actually I am not really ready to do the monetizing thing yet....I need more experience blogging first. Here is the link to what I found: 101 ways to monetize blogs

Hi Cybele - great link! There are a few on the list that are repeats, so it's a bit less than 101, but "101" makes for a much better headline
And there are certainly PLENTY of great ideas on the list......thanks for sharing it!
