Been finding some advertisement writer's conferences lately. Wondering what the benefits are? Some of the conferences are a bit pricey, but you do get a meet and greet with editors and publishers.
What are the benefits of attending a writer's conference?

Benefits of a writer's conference:
1. Meet other writers; exchange business cards and get to know each other.
2. Meet and greet editors and publishers. You could find out what will move your 'query letter' to the top page; what type of writing their looking for; tips and tricks to following guidelines to a 'T'; and you to ask editors and publishers your questions.
3. You could be in another state/city/country and you can write about it.
4. It's a 'mini' vacation.
5. Learn from other writers, you may even try out a new writing style.
6. You'll be surrounded by a community of people who enjoy the written word.
7. Anything you can do to enhance your writing is a plus.
8. You may be inspired to finish your non-fiction or fiction travel book.Hope this helped...Rebecca

Rebecca gave a very thorough and excellent answer!
I can only add that every conference I have been to has been worth way more than the cost - even if what is "taught" are things you already know, the opportunity to meet other writers, editors, and publishers is priceless. The connections made will benefit you at some point - maybe not right away - particularly if you are sure to follow up with everyone you've met by sending a personal note (handwritten of course).
I definitely encourage writers of ALL experience levels to attend writers' conferences.
