I like WordPress, but I don't always like pre-designed templates. What are some websites that offer free templates that you can customize? What I mean is that I'd like to be able to choose the colors, fonts, spacing, and all of that stuff. Thanks.

Artisteer is a great product, and if you have no skills whatsoever with HTML or CSS, but really want to have your own custom designed Theme instead of using one of the hundreds of thousands of free WordPress Themes already being offered, then it's probably well worth the $50 pricetag.
If you do have some rudimentary skill with HTML and modifying a CSS file, then there are several free Themes that are meant to be customized - they give you the basic layout (you choose how many columns), then you personalize it however you like by modifying the CSS to suit your whim. One that is great that I can recommend is called Sandbox, and you can download it for free from http://www.plaintxt.org/themes/sandbox/ (note that it is very plain looking - this is of course by design, so that YOU can design it yourself).
Rebecca I will be VERY interested in hearing about your testing with Artisteer after you've had some time to play with it!
