Hello travel writers! can anyone give away some good info? I currently live in CA.USA and do a lot of day trips! So many scams out there, I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to sell articles on budget travel especially for people wanting to day trips! I am orginally came from Canada and have traveled all around USA and Canada and would like to promote our beauty to all people! Thanks to all whom reply to this!

Hi Randall - welcome to our Forum!
Articles about day trips and weekend getaways sell really well to local newspapers and local/regional magazines within driving range of your day trip, so that would be a good place to start.....wherever you have an article written about, find the travel editor for that area's local newspaper and send them a query letter.....also, a few magazines that print regional stories include Sunset magazine and High Roads, the publication of AAA auto club, which publishes a different version of their magazine for each state.
For stories about Canada, start with local papers for border states, since day trips would appeal to residents close enough to get to Canada for a day.
Once you've placed a few articles out there, it will be easier to pitch larger papers or magazines, and to sell articles on longer trips.

MemberThanks TRISHA MILLER for you input! I would say that i travelled USA, Canada very well but I always thought that there are so many shows on travel channel and other stations but it is set up for people that have a large amount of money!
This is what brought me to thinking about writing! My problem is every site I first visited wanted to give some pointers then take there course or go to presentation which cost hundreds every thousands of dollars!
I,ve asked family to review and asked them to be open not looking at spelling but what they see and they were amazed and then told me to use spell check and keep writing lol
