I recently received something in the mail about taking a "free test" to see if I'd be a good candidate to write for publications. What are your thoughts on these "tests?"
Testing for publication to see if you can write for them

It couldn't hurt to take the test. Just remember, many of the finest writers never had "proper" schooling. Just because someone gives you their opinion of your writing doesn't mean you can't be a writer. The internet has proven that!

I am not aware of any legitimate publication that "tests" random people to see if they'd be good writers.....the skeptic in me smells a scam......I am willing to bet that if you take the test, they will reply and tell you that you "could be a paid writer if you just sign up for our course, which costs (insert whatever amount they want you to pay)...."
My guess is that it's just a marketing ploy to sell you something, and won't by itself result in any writing assignments.....just a hunch....
