Thanks for the question...DPI = dots per image; the higher dpi, the better. I recommend that photos are at least 300 dpi. Graphic designers use this rule of thumb when working with images. Of course, they could be a higher resolution...Hope this helped...

DPI refers to the "dots per inch" and is a measure of resolution - the higher the DPI, the sharper your photo will appear, with greater detail.
For a print medium, very often the DPI needs to be at a minimum of 200dpi, sometimes higher depending on the quality of the paper the photo will be printed on (glossy paper needs very crisp detail, whereas with newsprint you can get by with a little less).
For publication online, the maximum dpi you need is 72dpi - that's because computer monitors are not capable of displaying greater than 72dpi, so any higher than that just creates a larger file size that takes longer to download.

BTW...I read an article about "electronic gadgets" that are becoming obsolete. Good news, the camera is not totally obsolete. But, cell/mobile phones can do everything from play music to surf the internet. The next time you're ready to upgrade your phone, ask about the camera options, you never know what you can get...TAFN
