I worked with a woman who lived in Bolivia (she was a teacher) and she had dental work which included a root canal and having her teeth cleaned. The teeth cleaning cost $3.00 U.S. I can't remember how much she paid for the root canal but it was no where near what's charged in the U.S.
If you choose to have major surgery outside of the U.S. make sure the doctors are legitimate and you know what to expect.
