Thanks for the question. I've been looking into this topic. SEM is search engine marketing. According to wikipedia SEM is "...is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs).
According to the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization (who knew), SEM methods include: search engine optimization (or SEO), paid placement, contextual advertising, and paid inclusion. Other sources, including the New York Times, define SEM as the practice of buying paid search listings."
Apparently, SEO is a form of SEM. I did not know SEO was part of SEM. It does make sense. You can do more than SEO to market your website. I hope this helped!

Thanks for the information. I've been hearing a lot about SEM. It makes sense that SEO would fall under SEM. TTY!
