I have a couple of ideas for articles but I'm not sure what to charge. What are the guidelines? Do you charge what you feel you and your writing are worth? Thanks.
How much do you charge for an article over 1000 words?

It depends. I know some writers who will charge anywhere from $1.00 to $1.50 a word. Some charge a flat fee anywhere from $500 and up. It's your decision or what the publication is offering you.

Hey OTRA
A lot of that comes down to what someone is willing to pay for your article - it's an extremely rare occurrence these days that you get to "name your price"....almost no one shops around for articles....but on a positive note, you don't always have to accept what a publication is paying either, you can do your own shopping around and find those that are willing to still pay a decent per-word rate, and just write for them.
