I'm wondering if there's a standard wait-time before you can pitch your ideas to other publications. Is it 6-weeks or less? Any thoughts. I've pitched some articles but haven't heard anything yet -- it hasn't been 6-weeks. Do you call? Oh wait, some of the publications said "no phone calls." Help!
How long do you wait to hear from an editor?

The usual wait time is about 6-weeks. I wouldn't call before that time. However, after 6-weeks has passed, you may want to pick up the phone or email the editor. It's worth a try. Remember that editors constantly receive pitches...Good luck!

I agree with Rebecca that 6 weeks is adequate time to wait, but another option is the 2-contact rule......I would send a second (follow up) contact after the initial pitch, generally 4 to 6 weeks after if you've received no response - then 3 weeks after your follow up (the second contact) feel free to pitch elsewhere if you've still heard nothing back.
Good luck!
