Was that the blog about the guy who was in Ecuador and almost had his camera ripped from him while he was taking a picture? I read that blog and thought that was nuts! He scared off the robber and was very lucky.
Here are some tips...
1. Be a confident traveler. If you look like an easy target, i.e., nervous, fidget, etc...you could be prone to an attack. Walk with your head held high as if you know the city/country.
2. Stay alert and be aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to crowds and diversions; notice the people around you.
3. Relax. You're traveling so relax and have fun. If you're uptight about something bad happening, it could happen.
4. Some people recommend using a money belt. The only issue with a money belt is if you need money you have to take it out of the money belt. You don't want to do this in daylight where everyone can see you. Some woman carry a small purse which the put across their shoulders. Keep it in front of you and be mindful of where you are.
5. Trust that there are good people wherever you go. Affirm that you'll have a safe and fun trip and you will!Happy Travels!
