I was thinking the other day that travel is usually "touchy/feely" and everyone becomes enlightened after they traveled to Africa or Asia. I was thinking about starting a travel writing website dedicated to "travel woes and rants." Hey, people do critical book and food reviews, why should travel be left out in the cold? What do ya think? I think it's a fab idea
so I'll probably just go for it!
How about starting a website about not-so-good travel experiences?

I think it's a great idea! There is a website out there called "travel rants" (I think they are at http://www.travel-rants.com).....
I say go for it!

That's a great site, but the URL you linked to above has a typo i it...... it should be:
http://www.grumpytraveller.com/ (with an extra L )
I like the fact that it's not about how "fabulous" travel is, because it isn't always fabulous. Good find!

hello trisha,
the http://www.travelrants.com links you've posted doesn't seem to quite work
in fact, it appears to a domain available for purchase, insteadbut all thing equal (quality of writing, layout), i think that BillieJean's idea is a great one! i believe a reasonable amount of people would want to know the places to avoid and things not to do there, and even rant about them!
cheers!

Hi Shawn
You were absolutely right - I posted the wrong URL (I just corrected it above) - it should have been http://www.travel-rants.com...
WHAT a good example of something I've been preaching for a long time - it's SO important when you register a domain that you also get any variations available, like with (or without) hyphens, plurals, or misspellings......it's a small investment but can really pay off when people don't remember your domain name exactly right (like me
) You just redirect all of the extra domains to whichever you choose to be your primary home on the internet......if you don't, then often your promotion efforts also help build web traffic for whomever DOES have those extra variations on your domain name.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I've been "brainstorming" and checking out the websites that everyone mentioned. I'm using WordPress so I've been thinking about my color scheme, images, and things like that...I kind of would like something like "Francine" image that can be found on greeting cards. Thanks again, Good stuff
