Hi Sarah....How you monetizing a blog will be based on your blog topical theme. If you are blogging on generic subjects then it will be harder to get noticed but easier to find monetized products). If you are blogging on specific subjects then it is easier to get noticed but harder to monetize. Which ever you chose, Google Adsense is the easiest to implement but the toughest to make money on. Check out Commission Junction (CJ) to see if they have product that matches your writing. CJ is harder to get setup with and a little harder to implement that Google Adsense. Going direct to supplier is very time consuming but the best way to go.....So, I would start with Adsense, test CJ and go direct when you have found the right combination of sales....Check out AssociatePrograms.com for more information on Ad placement and reviews......Hope this helps

Welcome Sarah! You found the right forum for information on monetizing your blog. Rod is very knowledgeable about this subject. It's not as easy as some people make it out to be. Live and learn...
I signed up with CJ, Google Adsense, and LinkShare. I'm still learning about how to monetize a blog. I learned the hard way about signing up for many affiliate marketing sites and then applying to a lot of different programs. Going direct is a good idea. For example, I had one merchant leave LinkShare so I had to go through my blog and delete my links because they were about to be deactivated. Follow Rod's advice and "test" the waters. Good Luck!

I'm doing my best to make money from my blog. There are many people out there who "claim" to have all of the answers, but yet they do not tell you anything. I've listened to a couple of teleseminars, and they gave little information. It was more about the "host" selling his or her products. Not cool...

I agree. I've listened to some teleseminars where the people "drone on and on" but do not give you any pertinent information. Their products costs $500+ and right now, I'm not prepared to invest that kind of money. And -- if I did, I'm not sure which products are the best.
I'm doing the best that I can to make money from my blog...I have not made a sale...I've listened to people and read information on the internet, but I think I'm missing something...Who knows...

Hey everyone -- You may want to visit ClickBank.com. This is another way to earn affiliate income. Also, if you wrote or write an eBook, you can sell it through ClickBank.com...

Considering that you're in school, you may want to write in other niche markets such as health and wellness, college life, or some other market. You could write/blog about "traveling on a college student budget." Try not to limit yourself...the extra cash will be great....

Does anyone have information on Mass Control 2.0? I know they're are a lot of "affiliate marketing gurus" out there. Not sure if this is a good investment...

I watched and listened to the video on Mass Control 2.0. You receive a lot of CDs, binders, books, and DVDs and the potential to make millions of dollars. Frank does state that a 13-year old kid bought his system and made $24,000 in one day or was it a month...I guess if you have an extra $2,000 to spend, go for it
or pay for it in installments...

Be careful when you do Google AdSense. Some people tell you to put the actual URL of the company's website in the URL space when you create an ad. If this is trademarked, you will not be able to do this. I received an email from one of my affiliates and they asked that I remove the link and not use their company name because it's trademarked. Ironically, Google accepted the ad..I changed it...we'll see what happens.
