I'd like to begin to guest blog, but I don't want to overwhelm myself because I blog for my websites. How many blogs are you "guest blogging" for? Have you been able to keep writing for your own websites? Please share...Many thanks!

Before You Guest Blog
Be very careful before you begin to guest blog for a website. Find out as much as you can about the people who own the website and their personnel. Unfortunately, the actions of one person can give a website and or company a bad reputation. That's just how it goes. People forget that the internet "connects" people from around the world; it's a small world. Anyway, if you do have an awful experience with one person, try not to let it deter from writing for the website. If the editors/publisher do not address the issue then you may forgo writing for the website.
Contact the editors/publishers and ask questions such as, "...Who's in charge of writers?" What is his/her management style? What if I change my mind about writing for the website?" If you can, contact the bloggers who write for the website to get feedback from them.
Guest Blogging
Use your own discretion. How much work can you handle? What is your schedule like? How interested are you in guest blogging? Answer these and other questions before you commit. Of course, life happens. You may have good intentions to be a guest blogger, but receive an opportunity that you cannot resist. Hopefully the editors/publishers/manager of writers will be understanding...I cannot emphasize the word "hopefully" enough.
Guest blogging is a great way to build an online presence. It will help you to receive traffic to your website which can boost your page rank. Don't forget that guest blogging will help you to improve your writing skills!
I hope this helps...Good Luck!

Hi SarahQT,
Rebecca did a great job summing up the information that I would have said...It's important to do some guest blogging as it helps build a network of other travel bloggers and get your name out in the industry as well.
You really don't need to set a schedule and become a guest blogger in which you are required to post every week. For example, I've done a few guest posts here as well as Matador Abroad and Matador Trips. I try to handle one or two of them at a time just because I don't want to drown myself.
Most travel blogs should have a link on them and how to contact them for doing a guest post.
