Are there any "secrets" that editors and publishers will share with writers that would help them to get published?

I'm glad you asked this question...First, make sure your work is professional. Second, your writing is supposed to be free of grammatical and spelling errors. Third, proofread, proofread, and proofread. It's amazing how many errors you can find in a newspapers and magazines. Oh! Well, I guess you can't catch them all! Anyway, ask a few people (co-workers, other writers, etc...) to proofread your work and give you constructive feedback. Most importantly, writers do not pay publishers! If a "publisher" asks you to submit payment via a check or credit card, run the other way!

Thanks for the information, I'll read the blog. I'm sure publishers have different guidelines. You have to read those with care before you submit your work.
