I was wondering if you really need to incorporate photos into an eBook. I've downloaded eBooks that didn't have any pictures. It didn't bother me. What do you think? Pros? Cons? Thanks.
Do you need to put photos in an eBook?

I am going to put pictures in my ebook, as I think they will complement the text. They will be in black&white, but so will be the picts in the hardcopy of the book.

I think it really depends on the topic of the ebook - for example with "how to" ebooks I like illustrations such as screen shots that help me understand what I'm supposed to be learning, with ebooks that are more like white papers I like to see graphs and charts or other visual ways of summarizing key data, If your ebook is about a destination, then photos of popular locations, attractions, or events would be a good fit.
But all that said I agree that it doesn't matter much to me - as the ebook reader - if there are any images or not.
Keeping in mind the reason that someone downloads an ebook (and more importantly, decides to purchase it if it's not free), which is for the information it contains, so I don't recommend getting too crazy with adding images. I suggest only adding what is necessary to illustrate your ebook's key points.

You could include photos (make sure you have the rights to do so) but I don't think it matters. Most eBooks are downloaded to Kindles and other devices like it. They have no pictures because they're usually books by your favorite authors. If you feel photos will complement your written material then include them.

Thanks for the great feedback. I wasn't sure if I had to include photos in an eBook. I can use my own if I feel the books needs it. Thanks.
