I'm new to affiliate marketing. Can you create your own ads? I would like to create my own if I could, not sure how difficult it is. Do merchants allow you to do this? Thank you for your help with this matter.

Some merchants will allow you to create your own "text" ad. I'm not sure about a graphics ad. I suggest reading the terms and services of the agreements for your affiliates to see what is and what is not allowed.

I'm not sure why you would want to do that - most, if not all, of the merchants who use affiliate programs put huge amounts of research and analysis into making sure that their ads work, so why not go with what they provide?
If you have ideas, you might contact the marketing department for a particular merchant and discuss them - they may be open to some suggestions, but they also may be able to explain to you what they have found works or doesn't work.
