I prefer WordPress. I read an article about Blogger (Google's blogging system) and they don't have the same capabilities as WordPress. The majority of people use WordPress.

Thanks for the question Martha..thanks Duchess for responding. WordPress is used by the majority of people. It's relatively easy to use and WordPress offers much more than some other blogging sites. Not sure about blogging software. I would start with WordPress.com, that's what I did. Then I progressed to WordPress.org which allows you to add Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing links. Hope this helped...

Thanks for the information. I know someone who uses Blogger for their travel blog. I guess it was easy to set-up. Can't say for sure because I haven't looked at it. Maybe I'll stick with WordPress because you can find information on the internet about it. Some of us need all the help we can get.

Martha, WordPress.com is pretty easy to use. I also started with that and progressed to WordPress.org. Believe me, I had not blogging experience whatsoever. Take your time with the process. WordPress offers tutorials and you can find a ton of other tutorials on the net.

I think it's important to note that Wordpress.ORG is not a blogging site like Wordpress.COM is (or like Blogger.com is)..... Wordpress.ORG is simply where you can DOWNLOAD the application if you want to install it on your own server manually. Many website hosting companies offer the Wordpress application as a "1-click" install (also called "automatic installation").
I don't recommend Wordpress.COM at all.......it's true that it's a free way to set up a blog, but that is where the benefit ends - you still have to choose your Theme and Plugins if you choose to host your blog with them, BUT you are limited in what Themes and Plugins you can choose from - if you run Wordpress on your own server (regardless of whether you manually install if yourself by downloading it from wordpress.org or you take advantage of the 1-click install your hosting company offers) then you have a much, much greater pool of Themes to choose from, and you can take advantage of many more plugins, including commerce and advertising plugins, which you cannot use at Wordpress.COM because of their no-commerce limitation.
Really and truly the ONLY benefit to using Wordpress.COM that I can see is that it's completely free, but in my opinion it's limitations rule it out as a viable choice - excellent site hosting can be had for as little as $4 per month through 1&1 Hosting so I recommend that you just run your own Wordpress application on your own site host and with your own domain name right from the very start.
That way you also won't have the headache of trying to move your existing posts and pages if/when you decide to move away from Wordpress.com, and you won't lose any site visitors or page ranking you might have obtained with your old Wordpress.com address.
